JOSÉ FÉLIX

7/06/2025 – 20:00 h. Casa Anchieta, La Laguna, Tenerife
Raised within the heart of Canarian folklore and deeply rooted in the traditions of his surroundings, José Félix began his artistic journey in contexts linked to popular genres and the oral music traditions of the Canary Islands. Over time, his interest in traditional music expanded to encompass Iberian folklore, leading him to develop an artistic and musical project focused on learning and performing popular genres from across Spain. This culminated in the creation of the ensemble Filigrana, where he serves as artistic director.
Simultaneously, he established a close connection with Portuguese fado, a genre in which he discovered a space to express his musical sensibilities and emotional depth—elements that came to life in his debut album Galería. His musical activity also includes active participation in collective projects, both those focused on authentic interpretations of traditional music and others centered on new musical creations, with Canarian folklore always as the starting point and cross-cultural fusion as the horizon—such as the work of the company Pieles.
He holds a degree in Art History and a Master’s in Theory and History of Art and Cultural Management from the University of La Laguna, a background that provides solid grounding for his artistic sensibility and cultural vision.
