Juan Miguel Castellano is a guitarist from the Canary Islands whose diverse musical training has shaped a unique, eclectic style rooted in flamenco and deeply influenced by classical guitar. He began his musical journey playing the timple before dedicating himself to the guitar, first self-taught, then formally trained at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (2009–2015) under Fernando Hernández León, while also studying modern harmony with Miguel Manescau. He later graduated as a flamenco guitarist from the “Rafael Orozco” Higher Conservatory of Music in Córdoba (2016–2020), studying with renowned teachers such as Luis Medina, Manolo Franco, and David Carmona, and attending masterclasses with major artists including Gerardo Núñez, Jorge Pardo, and Jonathan Kreisberg.
Throughout his career, he has participated in a wide range of projects, including Retahíla, Souvenir Flamenco, Caracoles, Indimaj, and Cambala, blending flamenco with jazz, Berber and Middle Eastern music, and Spanish dance. He was selected in the 2021 “Resuena Puerto” contest and currently performs as part of the guitar duo Temple, while also accompanying singer Cristian Saucedo and offering solo recitals. Juan Miguel is active in studio recordings for dance, theatre, film, and television, with notable contributions to the soundtrack of the British series A Town Called Malice (Sky TV). He is currently preparing the release of his first solo album, Donde Habita la Verdad.
